Puamun Meshkenu’s Symposium aims to familiarize students in health-related fields with Indigenous traditional health professions, knowledge and practices. It presents lectures by health professionals whose practice is influenced by Indigenous traditional knowledge.
First edition (Wendake, March 2019)
The first edition of the Student Conference was held in Wendake in March 2019. In addition to gathering nearly 30 Indigenous post-secondary students and offering various workshops and conferences on contemporary and traditional medicine, the Symposium provided an opportunity to present Indigenous role models working in the health field by featuring speakers who shared their professional experience and life and academic paths. The Symposium seeks to promote Indigenous knowledge, practices and skills in healthcare and motivate, inspire and affirm Indigenous pride. The general public as well as partners can view various testimonials and conferences from the event.
